April 20 – May 1, 2012. Yellowbook Distribution will be partnering with Local Search Association to promote the industry wide opt-out system for phone books, www.yellowpagesoptout.com at the 2012 Washington State Recycling Association.

The opt-out website allows residents to choose what directories they wish to receive and which ones they don’t. The site represents 167 publishers in the industry and is 100% free for local tax payers. The consortium will be demonstrating the opt-out program at a booth in the exhibit hall and will also be a speaker in a session during the conference.

Yellowbook Distribution has recently started a nationwide recycling initiative focused on proper disposal of out-of-date directories. A new website (www.recycleyellowbook.com) has been created that features the environmental aspects of the printed product, an ability to opt-out of future deliveries, news and events along with recycling partner information. What: Yellowbook will celebrate their employee’s renewed commitment to the environment with a ribbon cutting on America Recycles Day Monday, November 15, 2010 at 1pm.

Other events at Yellowbook on America Recycles Day include an eco-fair from 11 – 1:30 and the taping of a video documentary following the recyclables from Yellowbook to City Carton Recycling to be sorted. The media is invited to attend all events.

Who: The Cedar Rapids Chamber Ambassadors along with Representatives from City Carton Recycling, ECICOG, Yellowbook Green Team and executives will be on hand   to assist in the ribbon cutting.

Vendors at the eco-fair include City Carton Recycling, Linn County REC, East Central Iowa Council of Government, Linn County Solid Waste Agency, Yellowbook Green   Team and Yellowbook Recycling.

Visuals: The Eco-Fair and Yellowbook’s new on-site recycling compactor. The recently installed giant yellow outdoor compactor, purchased with a grant from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, has a capacity of 4 tons and is expected to increase landfill diversion by 48 tons per year.
